Acute renal failure due to renal lymphomatous infiltration as the initial manifestation
A male patient with acute renal failure (ARF) due to large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma infiltration of kidney is presented. The diagnosis was suspected because of coincidence of ARF and tumor lysis syndrome non-responsive to conservative renal therapies. A renal biopsy confirmed diagnosis and appropriate chemotherapy led to complete improvement of renal function.

Rhabdomyolysis is a clinical and biochemical syndrome resulting from skeletal muscle injury and the release muscular cell constituents into extracellular fluid and the circulation (1). Rhabdomyolysis occurs due to drugs, toxins, ischemia and infections. Drug induced rhabdomyolysis mostly occurs with statins but rarely with fibrates. Fibrates are widely used for the treatment of hypertriglycerid...
متن کاملAcute renal failure due to leptospirosis grippotyphosa.
In a minority of previously healthy patients presenting with acute renal failure, infectious agents are responsible for renal deterioration. Isolation of microorganisms is often unsuccessful and therefore a nosological diagnosis difficult. We describe two patients with reversible acute renal failure, which by serological methods proved to be due to infection with Leptospira grippotyphosa. It is...
متن کاملAcute renal failure due to traumatic rhabdomyolysis.
Between 1990 and 1993, we studied 14 cases of acute renal failure due to prolonged muscular exercise (e.g., squat jumping, sit-ups) and blunt trauma inflicted by law enforcement personnel using sticks or leather belts. None of the patients had a prior history of myopathy, neuropathy, or renal disease. All were critically ill and required renal support in the form of dialysis. Although the morbi...
متن کاملAcute renal failure due to Brucella melitensis.
We present the case of a 42-year-old male patient who applied to the emergency department of our hospital with clinical nephritis, orchitis, acute renal failure without endocarditis, and a low-grade fever. Brucella agglutinin titers were 1:160, Rose Bengal test was positive and Brucella melitensis was isolated from urine and blood cultures.. A combination of oral rifampin (600 mg/day) and doxyc...
